[i almost] saw [the first 5 mins] three [times]
I just saw 'saw III' at the cinema's. It was the second time i'd seen the first 5 minutes. Last time I went, my sister, who loves gorey horror felt like she was about to faint, and said she needed to go, so i left with her. This time it was with different people (not under the best circumstances, but that's another story...) Usually i'm not one of those people who gets on the soccer-mum bandwagon and yells "T.V IS THE REASON OUR KIDS ARE FUCKED UP!", but in this case, I think it may be true. If you were a person with homicidal tendencies, but lacked the imagination to think of something to do, this movie would get you started. And I find that thought very disturbing. Apparently 6 people passed out on the first day it was showing where I live. That can't be normal.

Having SIX people pass out because of a film in the one day? So very not normal!!
I saw (ahahah. Excuse the pun) the first Saw with you and hayley! And since then I have not watched either it, nor any of the subsequent movies and very much plan on keeping it that way.
For Ains to be grossed out by a film means that it is really gross. Means I don't want to watch it!
I sometimes watch things like that too and think that someone might take an idea from this and run with it. Which would suck. Specially with ideas from filmes that don't catch the culprits at the end, because then they don't have the theory of Good-Guys-Win-In-The-End. (this is an actual theory, but not its real name, about the media and peoples reactions to it, but I might explain it badly.)
Because of all the cop shows around some peope were getting worried that it might cause more crimes to be commited because of all the ideas presented in the shows. But research shows that in actual fact people are less likely to commit a crime because in almost every episode the culprit is caught by the maginificant police unit at the end, and you can see all the techniques that re used to find the baddie. One little hair left at the scene of the crime might be the thing that breaks the whole case! No matter how well the bad guys planned, no matter how complicated the plot, the good guys win. And because this message gets through to people they seem to be less likely to commit a crime.
But then you get the ones that dont catch the killer. And someone might come along and see a way that they could adapt that set of ideas for their own use, and that really freakes me out!
I've been using these media theories I learnt in year 12 rather a lot lately. I should go and tell my media teacher that she did good in drilling them into my head!
Sorry for the massive comment hon, but my boy passed me over for a game or two of poker. :'( how tragic. rofl. I'm sure I will survive.
*sings*
Just as long as I know how to love I know I'll stay alive,
I've got all my love to give,
I've got all my live to live,
I will survie,
I will survie,
Hey, hey!
Now it is time to go. :D

Shelley - Robbie smells for playing poker instead of playing with you. you're much more fun.
As for the no-happy-ending thing, maybe that's why i'm worried about the effect Saw is going to have in people...
or maybe i just thought of that after you said it! heh
anywho, i'll ring you later, shell.

Menelaus -
As for homicidal maniacs lacking in creativity - nope, I said: "but lacked the imagination to think of something to do"...
so only people with homicidal tendencies who lack imagination would get naughty thoughts from this... maybe...
i think ones with imagination would think of something sick and twisted all by themselves.
aren't they clever.
*shudders*
(good to hear you're still okay. - i know, i know, i'm a fruit bat.)
