meanderings.

How should a person live?

To laugh, to smile,
Or else hide in the pores of time,
Aging more in that non existing moment
Than a sinner on their deathbed.

(recant, recant, exhale.)

To love, to fuck,
To find some sort of intense connection
With a person making you feel a little less alone,
And a little more selfish.

(plunge, thrust, groan.)

To learn, to grow,
To try understand more about the sand
That trickles through the hourglass’ frame
Than the weathered hands that hold it.

(three, two, one.)

How should a person live?
Who knows?

Comments:
Good stuff.

I once read, not too long ago, that one can judge the strength of a relationship by the amount of laughing and smiling found in it. Obviously, the more laughing, the stronger the relationship. The contrast between that thought and the sinner on their deathbed is interesting. Deathbeds have a way of bringing people to God, just in case. Perhaps one would just regret not laughing more.

"A little more selfish" There's that word again..."selfish". It really is hard to escape, I suppose.

One last thing, is the sand more important than the hands?

How should a person live?

Maybe we should all smile more. I hear it's contagious.
