counting backwards
it's 49 days until i fly to america. aparently i forgot to tell some people that i'm leaving the country for a few months, so now they're annoyed, because they were sure that they would be the first to know. *sigh* am i meant to write it on my forehead? That'd be sexy.
So just in case any of you chickadees don't know - i'm going. there. i've told you, at least.
Now onto more important things: (or not.) I was walking down high street today, the suns warmth evaporating the rain from the past few days, hints of green shooting up from the soggy earth, when i noticed that everybody was smiling, well, everybody that i walked by anyway. If they weren't smiling before they got to you, they certainly smiled at you. And i know smiles may be inconsequential to many people, but to me, they're signs that there is some humility left in humanity... something worth ...something.
Okay, not the most articulate way to put it, but you get my drift i'm sure.
On Thursday i'm going to melbourne for the day, the main reason? To go to the American consulate to make sure that i'm not a psycho terrorist that's going to spread guns and std's around the country while i work illegally threatening to blow up buildings. On a form i had to fill in one of the questions was "have you ever participated in genocide". Hmm. Let me think about that one for a moment.
*laughs*
Then there were questions concerning terroroism and prostitution, etc. Seriously, if you had done anything naughty like that, as if you'd EVER admit to it on a form that's going to decide whether you're going to be let into their country or not. weird.
I mean, can you imagine Osama applying for a VISA ticking the "yes" box to the terrorist question? I don't think so, tim. But more importantly, would Bush?

Hey most cool on your upcoming trip - where are you going and why (or did you mention that and somehow I issed it - been incredibly hectic as the college courses I teach are ending in a few weeks meaning lots of grading as well as everything piling up)
Oh the survey sounds funny and makes me wonder if I were coming to visit there what I would have to fill out, etc....
And as to the smiles, I would go with it is important as well... and people do not do that enough, culture and society gets into the habit to keep your eyes and face down and averted least you smile at someone and they are a nutter and come after you or you offend them or... but smiles are important and you need them more, we all do - take care and enjoy your trip!!!! doc

BUSH DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A PASSPORT UNTIL HE BECAME PRESIDENT!!! HE HAD NEVER LEFT THE COUNTRY! Probably had never left Texas.
The question I had to answer (which I thought was hilarious) was "were you involved in Nazy Germany's persecution of Jews in the 1930's and 40's" or something like that. i couldn't find the yes box quick enough.
But you gotta be careful Hil, when you get done for pissing on a cop car and they do a history check on you, but you ticked "no to terrorism" box, and they find that kazoo in your pocket. We won't be hearing about David Hicks anymore, it'll be Hil".".
And people care about you going away, cos people going away is exciting!
