mail circles.
I'm not sure if it's the australian postal syst, or if it's just me, but all the mail i'm sending and recieving seems to be going on scenic tours. It started last christmas when a postcard i was sent from connecticut was missent to jakarta, indonisia. This continued on, i got sent a letter from queensland, but it accidently went to western australia first. I send something that is addressed to somebody else back to the sender (big black letters "return to sender, wrong address"), and it returns to me. This has happened several times. I tried to send a letter to America, and it got there, and came back to me, even though the person at the address said they never got it. I got sent a postcard from europe that has a random persons handwriting on it saying "hi hi stranger".... something weird is happening. I'm going to blame the postal dwarves... because i know if i blame the posties they might "go postal" on me. I am a little paranoid about posties.
Sidenote: the term "shotgun", as in to shotgun the front seat is derived from australian farm life when people used to go spotlighting. The driver obviously couldn't open the gates as he or she was driving, and the person in the front passenger seat couldn't do it because they were holding a loaded gun - thus, it would be too difficult to get out of the car, open the gate with the gun, and then return to the car. So, calling shotgun not only reserves the front seat, but also reserves the right Not to get out of the car to open any gates, fences, or what not.
